All promises of Jesus are precious, but one especially comforting one is this: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27 ESV
PEACE WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN
In the house the lights are glowing
And it’s quiet in the streets
As another day draws to a close.
Like the sun so gently setting
On a world drifting to sleep,
God’s peace, His perfect peace
Settles down in my soul.
Peace when the sun goes down,
Peace when the evening sounds
Begin to fill the air
Like a starlight symphony.
Peace—for He made my heart pure,
And in His love secure
I’ll rest until the morning comes
And a new day welcomes me.
In the morning Jesus met me
Just before the day began,
And I asked Him to lead me on my way.
Now that morning’s far behind me
And as night covers the land,
It’s so good to know the Lord
Was walking with me today.
Peace when the sun goes down,
Peace when the evening sounds
Begin to fill the air
Like a starlight symphony.
Peace—for He made my heart pure,
And in His love secure
I’ll rest until the morning comes
And the night ceases to be.
There will come someday a twilight
When the sun is sinking low,
And the air grows chill and shadows long.
I’ll remember that bright morning
Though so many years ago;
When the Lord gave me His peace,
Revealed the Promise of Dawn.
Peace when the sun goes down
Peace when the evening sounds
Like music fill the skies;
Morning stars begin to sing!
Peace—for he casts out our fears
And in His presence near
I’ll wait, for Day will surely come,
And the night will cease to be.
